Third crime special with Claus Theo Gärtner

After investigations on the North Sea and in the Allgäu, his third case takes private detective and solo investigator Josef Matula (Claus Theo Gärtner) to Mallorca: "Matula - Till death do us part" is the working title of the crime special that is currently being produced for ZDF. The director is Daniel Helfer, and the screenplay is once again by Ben Braeunlich.

Private detective Josef Matula and his dog Renz dock in a harbor in the north of the island on a yacht that he is transporting to Mallorca on behalf of the owner. There, Matula meets the yacht owner Ingo Schumann (Jochen Horst) and his companion Karin Weißbach (Heike Trinker). He spends the evening with the newly-in-love couple. When Ingo Schumann is found dead in the harbor the next morning and Karin Weißbach is suspected of murder, she asks Matula for help.

In a race against Comisario Herras (Carlos Lobo) from the Mallorcan police, Matula follows the trail of the dead man. He quickly finds out that Schumann was not the wealthy oral surgeon he claimed to be, and Karin Weißbach was not the only woman to whom he swore eternal love. But Karin is not playing with an open hand either.

When someone tries to prevent Matula from finding out the truth at all costs, his life is in danger. Is he dealing with a jealous husband? With a cheated wife? Or is the Majorcan godfather Mendes (Tonio Arango) behind Schumann's death?

The other roles are played by Michael Roll, Proschat Madani, Violetta Schurawlow, Lukas Piloty and others. It is produced by Odeon TV, Anette Kaufmann. The editor at ZDF is Matthias Pfeifer. Filming will continue until November 14, 2018. A broadcast date has not yet been set.
