Louis van Beethoven: Internationally enthusiastic reviews

The Christmas highlight “Louis van Beethoven”, which will be broadcast on December 25th at 20:15 p.m. on Das Erste and is available in the ARD media library, is being celebrated internationally.

Niki Stein's film about Ludwig van Beethoven has already been sold to 35 countries by the global distributor Beta Film and has received enthusiastic reviews in the USA, among other places.

For example, the “Los Angeles Times” praises the biopic as “elegantly tailored” and “TheaterByte” writes that the film is “highly recommended”.

The online portal "Watch or Pass" summarizes: "'Louis van Beethoven' is a wonderful portrayal of Beethoven's life, with a wonderful cast, excellent use of music, and the human story of this larger-than-life figure. Watch it!"

The lavishly produced, historical television film to mark the composer's 250th birthday can be seen in many countries in North and South America, in numerous southern and eastern European countries such as Italy, Spain, Hungary, Croatia and in Russia.

“Louis von Beethoven” looks behind the myth of the famous musician and focuses on three phases of his life. The young pianist Colin Pütz plays the child prodigy of his childhood in Bonn, Anselm Bresgott plays the rebellious, youthful Beethoven and Tobias Moretti plays the lonely and deaf genius at the end of his life.

As author and director, Niki Stein artfully embeds the artist's biographical episodes in the historical context that was shaped by the ideas of the Enlightenment and the social upheavals of the French Revolution.
