Real series: From model to fashion designer

When the young model Nyela Malik dares to publicly criticize a famous designer, her career seems to be over.

The real-life series “Athena” (ZDF) accompanies the young woman on her path to becoming a fashion designer, which leads her to London’s most successful art and design school “Athena”.

The series will be shown on KiKA from June 22nd, Mondays to Thursdays at 20:10 p.m. KiKA will show a preview of the first two episodes on Saturday, June 20th at 15:05 p.m.

After her argument with a famous designer, model Nyela (Ella Balinska) decides to design clothes herself and gets a place at Athena. It is a new beginning that brings new challenges for the aspiring fashion designer.

Athena is full of super-creative, ambitious students who are passionate about photography, costume design, graphic and fashion design and want to realize their dreams at any cost.

While Nyela travels through this exciting but also frightening new world, her two model friends Miju (Alice Hewkin) and Lexy (Sophie Robertson) repeatedly bring her back to her old life.

The British live-action series was nominated for awards including “Broadcast Digital Awards 2019: best digital children's content” and “BAFTA Children's Awards 2019: Best Drama”.

The first two episodes of “Athena” (ZDF) will premiere on June 20th at 15:05 p.m. From June 22nd, double episodes will be broadcast Mondays to Thursdays at 20:10 p.m., which can then also be found in the KiKA player.

“Athena” (ZDF) is a production by Depesche and Bryncoed Productions, and Angelika Fetsch is responsible for the editorial work at ZDF.
