Second season – start of filming for "Doktor Ballouz"

The ZDF primetime series “Doktor Ballouz” is entering its second round: filming has begun in Berlin and the Uckermark region for six new episodes about the story of the unusual chief physician Dr. Amin Ballouz (Merab Ninidze).

In addition to Merab Ninidze in the leading role, the film stars Julia Richter, Nadja Bobyleva, Vincent Krüger, Daniel Fritz, Clelia Sarto, Helena Grass and others.

The microcosm surrounding a clinic in the Uckermark region reflects the small and large social issues of our time, as well as the special characteristics of a region.

A crumpled trench coat, a small Trabi and, above all, a big heart when dealing with patients remain the trademarks of Dr. Amin Ballouz, the chief physician of the tranquil clinic in the Uckermark, in the second season.

Supported by neurologist Dr. Barbara Forster (Julia Richter), senior physician Dr. Mark Schilling (Daniel Fritz), assistant physician Dr. Michelle Schwan (Nadja Bobyleva) and cleaner Vincent (Vincent Krüger), who does community service at the clinic, Dr. Ballouz ensures medical care in the sparsely populated but idyllic region.

And he helps his patients through emotional dramas and life crises. Balouz's own life also experiences fateful turbulence in the second season.

All episodes of the first season of “Doktor Ballouz” are available in the ZDF media library until March 31, 2022.

After Dr. Ballouz believes he has overcome the death of his wife Mara (Clelia Sarto) at the end of the first season, he feels ready for a new beginning. Charmed by Eva (Helena Grass), the head of the hospital laundry, he ventures back onto the dance floor of flirting and dating after decades of happy marriage.

And he's not the only one: Dr. Barbara Forster also gives in to the charm of her colleague Dr. Mark Schilling and meets him privately. Things quickly become more serious between them than planned. Vincent and Dr. Michelle Schwan become friends who help each other find their way.

In the case of Vincent, whose life plan actually consists of taking care of his autistic brother, there is a lot to do.

"Doctor Ballouz" is being produced on behalf of ZDF producer Uwe Urbas (X Filme). Filming will continue until mid-October 2021. The series is expected to air in spring 2022.
