The electronic press card – a must-have for media representatives

The coronavirus pandemic has completely disrupted and permanently changed the way we live and work. The digital sector has experienced strong growth in all areas since the beginning of Covid-19.

With smartphones and smartwatches that we always have with us, we can make contactless payments in stores, identify ourselves with QR codes at events, lock and unlock our own cars, query diagnostic data, or send the next route to the cockpit.

And a lot has changed in the professional world too. Flying for meetings? Not an option. The current trends are Zoom and Teams for face-to-face business communication.

There is now an absolutely sensible innovation in the job for media representatives. It is the e-press card, which can be conveniently saved on your smartphone for accreditation or identification purposes.

This electronic press card is issued by the EPA Verification Office, a non-profit association for specialist journalism. The publishers promise: "The e-press card brings accreditations and requests for information into the digital age."

It is clear what advantages the electronic version has for journalists compared to the classic press pass .

1. Media representatives always have their e-press card with them on their smartphones – no more forgetting, no more searching and no more frantic rummaging around.

2. By presenting the new ID card contactless and digitally, no viruses or germs are exchanged with other people.

3. The digital e-press card is forgery-proof and misuse-proof because only the owner has the document stored on their smartphone.

For the remainder of 2021, the publishers of the EPA Verification Office are now even offering a free trial period to convince journalists to use the e-press card.

It can therefore already be predicted that digital opportunities will continue to multiply and become more widespread in media jobs in the future.

The new e-press card is one of the pieces of the puzzle on the way to an even more connected future. And of course already an absolute must-have for media representatives.

The Corona pandemic has only greatly accelerated the general digitalization of life and work - it would have happened anyway...
