The filming of "SOKO Wien"

Since last week, the 17th season of the popular ZDF crime series “SOKO Wien” has been filming in Vienna and the surrounding area.

For 16 new episodes, including the 250th episode, actor Martin Gruber appears in front of the camera for the first time as Chief Inspector Max Herzog.

He joins the well-known investigative team with Andreas Kiendl, Brigitte Kren, Lilian Klebow, Maria Happel and Helmut Bohatsch. Gruber succeeds Stefan Jürgens, who leaves the series in the opening episode as Major Carl Ribarski.

The first block of filming is about a kidnapped child who is supposed to force the release of a gang leader, about the confession of murder by a confused man for which another man has been in prison for years, as well as about a crime in the so-called Viennese thug milieu and a homicide that forensic doctor Dr. Franziska Beck (Maria Happel) observes from her window at home.

Silvia Lambri is the editor at ZDF. Filming in Vienna and the surrounding area, in Lower Austria and Styria is expected to last until November 2021; the broadcast dates have not yet been set.

Chief Detective Max Herzog, originally from Munich, and District Inspector Klaus Lechner (Andreas Kiendl), after one or two initial difficulties, learn to appreciate each other's strengths, complement each other in the investigative work of Dr. Henriette Wolf's (Brigitte Kren) team and also provide plenty of humor in the process.
