New prison series – the Berlin shoot for “Asbestos”

This week, the final shot was taken in Berlin on the shooting of the prison series “Asbestos”, directed by Kida Khodr Ramadan, which is a production of Pantaleon Films GmbH on behalf of ARD Degeto for the ARD Mediathek.
The focus is on Momo, a young football talent whose career comes to an abrupt end after a robbery and who suddenly has to assert himself again in a world that is completely alien to him.
Juri Sternburg wrote the screenplay based on an idea by Katja Eichinger. The main role in “Asbest” was played by 20-year-old German rapper Xidir aka Koder Alian.
Other roles include Lulu Hacke, David Kross, Anatole Taubman, Stipe Erceg, Uwe Preuss, Veysel Gelin, Ludwig Trepte, Jasmin Tabatabai, Wotan Wilke Möhring, Claudia Michelsen, Burak Yigit, Jan Georg Schütte, Detlev Buck, Tim Seyfi, Anna Bederke, Sönke Möhring, Frederick Lau, Nicolette Krebitz, Sabin Tambrea, Aaron Altaras, Christian Kahrmann, Hubert Koundé, Alexander Beyer and the multi-talented Kida Khodr Ramadan.
Simon Dat Vu was in charge of the camera. The film was shot in Berlin and Brandenburg.
The door slams shut, the key rattles: Momo is now alone in his 9-square-meter cell in prison. The 19-year-old is to serve nine years in prison for a crime that his uncle Amar and his cousins are brazenly pinning on him.
His career as a professional footballer, which he thought was certain, is suddenly out of reach. Instead, he has to assert himself in the harsh prison structure. The only thing that gives him support is the prison football team.
While his girlfriend and his mother worry about the desperate prisoner, clan leader Amar blackmails him harshly.
Only if Momo submits to him and starts dealing drugs in prison will he grant “protection”.
How long can Momo stick to his decision not to become a criminal?
