It is a production of the Swiss Contrast Film and Letterbox Filmproduktion, in co-production with Amalia Film, Swiss Radio and Television SRF and ARD Degeto.
The story is a gripping spy thriller set against the backdrop of dramatic developments at the beginning of the last century – when the Western world was in great turmoil and the First World War was raging in Europe.
The six-part series was directed by the directing duo Anca Miruna Lazarescu and Jan-Eric Mack.
The screenplays were written by head author Adrian Illien and his co-authors Thomas Hess, Julia Penner and Michael Sauter.
In the tension between Thomas Mann’s “Magic Mountain” and today’s World Economic Forum, the highest city in the Alps achieved world fame.
The series of the same name places the famous Swiss health resort of Davos at the epicenter of an emotional spy drama.
Inspired by true events, “Davos” tells the fictionalized story of a strong young woman in the midst of a patriarchally dominated world who, over the course of history, develops into a central player in the First World War.
The series centers on the young Swiss nurse Johanna Gabathuler, who unexpectedly finds herself caught between the spies secretly operating in Davos.
In order to win back her illegitimate daughter, she gets involved in a deadly game with the German secret service - and suddenly becomes the deciding factor in a risky plan that could decide between war and peace.
The main roles are played by Dominique Devenport, Jeanette Hain and David Kross – other roles are played by Anna Schinz, Hanspeter Müller-Drossaart, Welket Bunguè and Sunnyi Melles.
Filming will continue until March 2023 in Switzerland in the Prättigau / Davos region and in the Lower Engadine, as well as in Germany – in addition to North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria and Hamburg.
Global Screen is responsible for world distribution for “Davos”.
