“100 Years of Le Mans” – the special issue on the 24-hour race

There are many special car races in the world – the oldest, the longest, the most famous and the most dangerous.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans is one of the few races that is eligible for points in all of the above-mentioned areas: world-famous thanks to the Hollywood film starring Steve McQueen, infamous because of the 1955 accident, particularly long anyway and now a whole century old.

This anniversary is the reason for three magazines from the media house "Motor Presse Stuttgart" to jointly publish an elaborately designed special issue. From tomorrow (May 5, 2023), the joint production "100 Years of Le Mans" by "Auto Motor und Sport", "Motorsport Aktuell" and "Sport Auto" will be available in stores.

The whole thing can also be ordered at shop.motorpresse.de, also as an e-paper.

“The truly unique thing about Le Mans is the fans’ special love for this race; it is this that gives it its true meaning,” says Marcus Schurig, editor-in-chief of Motorsport Magazine, under whose direction the special issue was produced.

For almost two weeks, people flock from all directions, many come every year, and there is a very unique fan culture surrounding the actual event.

Marcus Schurig: “It is always said that Le Mans is a big festival during which a car race breaks out – and that is exactly the case.”

On 132 pages, the most experienced motorsport editors of the three magazines describe the multifaceted history of “24h du Mans”, shed light on the development of new technologies, tell the stories of legends and outsiders and take a look at current technical developments and innovations as well as the future of the racing classic.

The anniversary issue is rounded off by knowledgeable background reports on the track and the regulations as well as on teams and manufacturers.

“Motor Presse Stuttgart” is one of the leading international special interest media houses and is active in publishing with licensed editions and syndications in 20 countries around the world.
