In 2014 alone, 42 million tons of electronic waste were generated worldwide.
But where does this toxic and often valuable waste end up?
The British documentary “E-Life: Where does our electronic waste end up?” takes a look at the growing e-waste crisis.
The whole thing can be seen online on Arte at arte.tv from August 14, 2023.
Among other places, the filmmakers travel to the Agbogbloshie scrap yard in Accra, Ghana.
There, over 3.000 people earn their living by extracting precious metals from old equipment amid smoking toxic waste.
