A property is the big dream of many families who long for their own four walls and the perfect living experience with a terrace and garden.
But the path to this goal is not always easy. Often you need strong nerves and perseverance.

MDR accompanied two families for two years during renovation, reconstruction and house construction – longer than originally planned.
The first part of the new five-part MDR docusoap “Nightmare or dream house? The rocky road to home ownership” has been broadcast on ARD since May 25th Media Library .
All other parts will appear shortly before the respective TV broadcast in the ARD Mediathek online first.
MDR television will show the docusoap on June 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th – each time at 19.50:XNUMX p.m.
The Old Court
The patchwork family Wünsche / Irmler / Köhler wants to move from Dresden to Upper Lusatia. Rüdiger grew up in the small town of Crostau in the Bautzen district, on a 14 hectare farm.
It has belonged to his family for three generations and his parents still live there today. After almost 40 years, the trained carpenter now wants to return to his old home. Not alone, however, but together with Anne, whom he met six months ago, and her daughters.
But the 18th century timber-framed house is showing its age. It needs to be renovated and remodeled before the family can move in.
After extensive construction work – a shared living room with a kitchen has been created, as well as a sauna, among other things – Anne and Rüdiger are making further plans.
Both want to create a common livelihood in Crostau. The farm is to become a learning farm and a nature school for children...
The Catalog Wooden House
The dream of Katrin and Florian Bock from Erfurt looks different. The teacher couple are expecting their first child - at the same time they are planning to build a new house at the foot of the Thuringian Forest.
The two of them are very impressed with the wooden house from the catalogue, and the financing and building permit initially go well. But then everything changes. Their plan to move into their new home in the country for Christmas 2021 fails - for many reasons.
On the one hand, a new building authority is suddenly responsible, and on the other, the building plans have to be revised. The rooms suddenly seem much too small - even baby Ole, who has since been born, has too little space.
After a delay of almost a year, work finally begins. But the joy is short-lived: the construction company leaves a long list of defects on the newly built house...
