Hamburg says goodbye to Carlo von Tiedemann

Hamburg says goodbye to a broadcasting legend and one of the most popular presenters in northern Germany.

On July 10, 2025, family, friends and fans will come together at the Hamburg Michel to remember Carlo von Tiedemann (October 20, 1943 to June 8, 2025) – and to say goodbye together.

NDR will broadcast the memorial service live on NDR television starting at 16.15:XNUMX p.m. Reports will also be broadcast on radio programs, in the Hamburg Journal, and through other channels.

Carlo von Tiedemann was on air for NDR for over 50 years and gave the North German Broadcasting Corporation's programming on both television and radio his own signature.

At the family's request, the memorial service is a public event in which all interested parties can participate.

Julia Atze, pastor of St. Michael's Church, will lead the ecclesiastical part. Bishop Kirsten Fehrs, chairwoman of the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD), will deliver the eulogy.

Carlos' long-time presenter colleague Bettina Tietjen will host the live broadcast, and Daniel Kaiser will commentate on the memorial service.

Musical accompaniment will be provided by pianist Joja Wendt, members of the NDR Big Band and the NDR Vocal Ensemble, and cult singer Lotto King Karl. Schlager singer Mary Roos will give the closing speech.

The commemoration ceremony will take place in the main church of St. Michaelis, Englische Planke 1, 20459 Hamburg.

Doors open at 15.30:16.30 p.m., and the memorial service begins at 17.30:XNUMX p.m. The event ends at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.
