The 2025/26 NHL season starts on Sky Sport

The new National Hockey League (NHL) season kicks off on Tuesday.

In the coming years, Sky Sport will remain the home of the best hockey-League in the world and shows around 300 games live and exclusively per season.



During the regular season and the Stanley Cup Playoffs, there is at least one match on the schedule almost every day.

Reinforcement in the expert team

Just in time for the start of the season, the Sky Sport NHL team is getting prominent support: Yannic Seidenberg, former national player and long-time DEL professional, is now joining the panel of experts including Patrick Ehelechner, Patrick Köppchen, Frank Mauer and Julia Zorn.

There are also changes to the commentary team: Michael Leopold, who previously worked at the Stanley Cup Finals, will be heard regularly during the regular season. Alongside him, the commentary team includes Olivier Zwartyes, Marcel Meinert, Franz Büchner, Christoph Stadtler, and Tobias Roth.

Seidenberg and Leopold will make their first joint appearance on Saturday, October 11, when they will commentate on the Winnipeg Jets vs. Los Angeles Kings match starting at 19:30 p.m.

Season opener live on Sky Sport

To get you in the mood, Sky Sport News will present the special "NHL is back" on Tuesday starting at 19:00 p.m. The season begins just a few hours later. in the USA officially with the opening game:

◉ Florida Panthers vs. Chicago Blackhawks – live from 23:00 PM, commentated by Olivier Zwartyes and Patrick Köppchen.

◉ Leon Draisaitl will be back in action with the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night. Sky will broadcast the game against the Calgary Flames starting at 4:00 a.m.

NHL highlights on Sky Sport

In addition to the regular games, Sky Sport also broadcasts:

Fans can also look forward to the highlight magazine “NHL On the Fly” and detailed 15-minute summaries of selected teams the following day – including the games of the Edmonton Oilers (Leon Draisaitl), Detroit Red Wings (Moritz Seider), Ottawa Senators (Tim Stützle) and the Boston Bruins, who, with Marco Sturm, have a German head coach in the NHL for the first time.

Flexible with Sky and Wow

All NHL games are available via Sky Stream (with a sports package) and the streaming service Wow. This allows ice hockey fans to watch the entire season flexibly on TV, laptop or mobile devices.
