The Association of German Travel Journalists (VDRJ) will once again award its coveted media prizes in 2026 for outstanding journalistic achievements in the field of travel and tourism.
The awards are considered the only independent prizes of their kind in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Categories for Excellence
The VDRJ Media Prizes are awarded in the categories of text, audio, and film. For each category, a separate expert jury evaluates the submitted works based solely on journalistic criteria.
The juries for the Award They consist of experienced journalists from leading media outlets as well as established freelance colleagues.
One main prize in each category is a Gebeco travel voucher worth €1.000. In addition, up to three further non-monetary awards may be given in each category.
Independence without compromise
The independence of the awarding of prizes is a central concern of the VDRJ.
Sponsors from the tourism industry support the voluntary jury work with prizes and services, but have no influence on the decisions.
There is no registration fee for participation.

All contributions that were first published in German media or on German-language websites in 2025 are eligible to participate.
