Wiesbaden Photo Days 2025: "Future? What Future?!"

From August 23 to September 7, 2025, Wiesbaden will once again be transformed into a center for international photographic art.

The 13th Wiesbaden Photo Days are one of the most renowned festivals for current photography and documentary art in Germany and present a diverse program at seven exhibition venues in the Hessian state capital.


Festival theme 2025

The focus of the upcoming issue is the topic of the future, interpreted through 38 selected photo and video projects from over 550 international submissions.

Shown are socially critical, dystopian and visionary worksthat address the uncertainties, hopes, and challenges of our time. The entries come from 25 countries and were curated by a panel of experts.

Multiple locations

The main exhibition venues include:

◉ Walkmühle Artists’ Association (opening & award ceremony).
◉ Kunsthaus Wiesbaden.
◉ City Museum at the Market (Sam).
◉ Bellevue Hall Art Association.

The opening will take place on August 23, 2025, at 19.00 p.m. in the Walkmühle – including the awarding of the jury prize.

Dialogue & Formats

A special highlight is the Artist Dialogue Day on August 24, where visitors can engage in direct conversation with the artists and the festival management. The supporting program includes:

◉ Guided tours, panels, lectures and artist talks.
◉ Workshops with experienced photography professionals (on August 30 and 31).
◉ Digital content, films and interactive formats – some accessible via QR code.
◉ Discussion forums on the role of photography in the age of artificial intelligence.

Prizes & Participation

In addition to the Jury Prize, an Audience Prize will be awarded—both endowed with €1.500. All exhibiting artists will receive a fee of €250 and a travel allowance.

Participation was open to all age groups, Styles and techniques – AI-generated works were also expressly permitted.

Jury & Artists

The jury was composed of renowned personalities from the photography scene: Nicole Ahland, Andrea Diefenbach, Kim Engels, Marc Peschke, Daniel Oschatz and Jürgen Strasser.
