145 years after the publication of Johanna Spyri’s first novel, RTL and SRF are opening a new chapter in the story of “Heidi”.
The popular character, which has been loved by generations of children and adults around the world, is getting a modern remake in a historical context.
The new adaptation will not only tell the timeless adventures of young Heidi in the Swiss mountains, but also her journey to becoming a young woman.
DCM Switzerland and Gaumont are behind the development and production of the Heidi series. The series will be shown on RTL Germany and Swiss Radio and Television (SRF).
The story of “Heidi” is based on the novels “Heidi’s Years of Learning and Travelling” (1879) and “Heidi Can Use What She Has Learned” (1881) by the Swiss writer Johanna Spyri.
The books have been translated into over 50 languages and made into films several times, and there are also several musicals. There have also been numerous film versions and adaptations of “Heidi”.
