Background

The organizer of the “BMW Open by Bitpanda” in 2025 is MMP Event for the twelfth year in a row. The agency for Events The Seven. One Entertainment Group secured the long-term contract for organizing the ATP 500 last year.

The BMW Open, also known as the Bavarian International Tennis Championships or Bavarian Open, is an annual men's tennis tournament held in Munich, Germany.

The tournament is played on the outdoor courts of MTTC Iphitos and is part of the ATP Tour. Since 2025, it has been classified as an ATP 500, which means an increase in status and prize money.

History and Development

Founded in 1899, the BMW Open was initially a combined tournament for men and women. Since 1973, it has been a men-only tournament.

BMW has been the main sponsor of the tournament for 38 years and has contributed significantly to the popularity of the event.

Current developments

In 2025, the tournament will be held as an ATP 500 event for the first time, meaning it will offer higher prize money and a stronger field of players. The prize money is expected to increase to approximately €2,5 million.

The center court will be temporarily expanded to accommodate more spectators, and in the long term, a new center court with a retractable roof will be built.

Tickets and event

The 2025 BMW Open will take place from April 12 to 20. Tickets for the qualifying weekend are available, while tickets for the main draw are already sold out.
