OpenAI allows apps – now ChatGPT can do almost anything

ChatGPT has been many things: advice, translator, advice column, and sometimes even a substitute therapist. But now the AI ​​buddy is getting a proper app update – with the new OpenAI Apps SDK (Software Development Kit).

Translated, this means: ChatGPT is becoming a platform. And developers can now integrate their own small programs into the chat. Canva, Spotify, Booking.com, Coursera, Expedia, Figma, and Zillow – all already included. All that's missing is a coffee machine.

The crafting is open

With the Apps SDK, developers will be able to create anything and everything: interactive tools, maps, creative generators, or entire mini-websites. directly in the chat window.

So, if you want to spontaneously book a trip, listen to a song, or create a graphic in the middle of a conversation, you no longer have to leave the chat. Soon, it'll be: "Hey ChatGPT, book me a hotel and make me a meme to go with it."

The whole thing is based on the open Model Context Protocol (MCP). Sounds technical, but it is essentially the new USB standard for Artificial Intelligence.
