A special discovery: Kakmann's futuristic luxury villa from "Bibi & Tina - The Movie" really exists - and is actually a museum.
App users experience such surprises on five exciting missions. The first tour, based on the movie "Alfons Zitterbacke – Endlich Klassenfahrt," was launched in 2022.
Realized together with the child actors at the Ostrau Castle filming location, the app was awarded the Saxony-Anhalt Tourism Prize in the digitalization category.
Since 2023 there are four additional missions:
◉ “With the blue owl against the witch chaos”: Discovery tour around the traditional Pforta State School.
◉ “No messing around with the Hotzenplotz”: Searching for clues at the more than 1000 year old Querfurt Castle.
◉ “The big Kakmann bet with Bibi & Tina”: Visit to the striking Arche Nebra visitor center.
◉ “In Time – A Journey Through Time with Bach”: Filming locations of the ARD production “Bach – A Christmas Miracle” in Merseburg.
There are also special photo tours at the Nebra Arche and Ostrau Castle that allow fans to immerse themselves in the world of film.
How set caching works
Set caching is similar to geocaching, but with a film-inspired narrative and interactive tasks. GPS-guided, users discover six stations per mission in approximately 45 to 60 minutes.
The app features exclusive film clips, behind-the-scenes footage, and exciting information. Before you can access the app, you'll have to complete small challenges, including music puzzles, quizzes, and picture puzzles.
For completed tasks, you receive points that can be exchanged for discounted admission or digital photo templates.
Augmented Reality brings film worlds to life
A highlight are the augmented reality elements. "We bring true-to-life, 3D replicas of film props back to the set via the mobile phone display," explains app developer Frank Rößler.
For example, Zitterbacke's school bus or the blue owls from "Bibi Blocksberg" appear deceptively real. Digital photo tours also offer an immersive experience: Using so-called overlays, visitors can create realistic souvenir photos with actors or film props.
Set Caching is free for iOS and Android and the Apps are available in the respective app stores.
