DSDS 2026 – Season 22 starts at Easter
“Germany’s Next Top Model” returns: RTL will show the 22nd season of DSDS starting on Easter Saturday, April 4, 2026, every Saturday and Tuesday at 20:15 pm.
Also present are chief judge Dieter Bohlen, Ballermann star Isi Glück and rapper Bushido – a jury, which could hardly be more different.
New casting format
The concept was fundamentally revised for season 22. Each episode now depicts a complete casting day – from the candidates' first appearance to the final jury decision.
Those who impress advance to the so-called "Golden Room", where it is decided whether another attempt in front of the jury is necessary or whether they can proceed directly.
The previous golden CDs are being discontinued without replacement; instead, recall tickets will be awarded for the first time. All of this will be filmed at the RTL broadcasting center in Cologne-Deutz.
Recall at Europa-Park
A particular highlight of this season is the location of the recall: Both recall episodes, broadcast on April 21st and 25th on RTL, were filmed at Europa-Park in Rust.
The popular amusement park with its themed areas and roller coasters provides an unusual and spectacular backdrop for the casting show.
There is still no age limit; participants range in age from 16 to 70. Several thousand applications were received this year.
"The DSDS Reality"
Also new this year is a companion format: Starting on April 21st, RTL+ will show ten episodes of the “DSDS Reality”.
The remaining candidates are accompanied in their daily lives in their shared apartment and undergo intensive training in singing, dancing, performance and stage presence – supported by mentors and coaches.
This gives the show, for the first time, a glimpse behind the scenes of the path to becoming a superstar.
DSDS broadcast dates
The first two episodes of DSDS season 22 will be available to stream on RTL+ starting April 4th. All subsequent episodes will be released on the platform every Tuesday and Saturday.
