Ice Hockey World Championship 2026 – Germany's games live on TV
After the disappointing preliminary round exit at the 2025 World Championship and the defeat in the quarter-finals at the 2026 Olympics, the German national ice hockey team goes into the 2026 World Championship in Switzerland with hunger.
The opening match is a real cracker: On Friday, May 15, 2026, Germany will face ice hockey powerhouse Finland. The puck drop – or rather, the kickoff – is at 15:45 p.m., live on ProSieben and Joyn.
Tough preliminary round group for the DEB team
Team Germany will face tough competition in the group stage. The other opponents in the preliminary round group are:

◉ USA – World Champions and Olympic Champions.
◉ Latvia, Hungary, Austria and Great Britain.
The matches against Switzerland and the USA in particular are likely to be crucial for advancing.
For the DEB team, the goal is to get back on track after two recent setbacks – also with an eye on the home World Championship in 2027.
