“Point 12” relies on moderation duos

RTL's midday magazine "Punkt 12" is revamping its presenting concept. After a test phase lasting several months, the program will permanently feature fixed presenting duos starting in May 2026.

In addition to the tried and tested duo Katja Burkard and Bernd Fuchs, Angela Finger-Erben and Daniel Fischer will also jointly present Germany's most successful midday magazine in the future.

Sabrina Ilski will also remain part of the extended team. Angela Finger-Erben will kick things off with her official "Punkt 12" premiere on May 18, 2026.

Dual moderation with reliability

The decision to use fixed presenting duos stems from positive experiences during the test phase. Martin Gradl, Managing Director of RTL News and ntv, emphasizes that the dual presenting of the three-hour live broadcast lends more structure, additional perspectives, and noticeably more dynamism – while simultaneously ensuring reliability and a close connection with the audience.

Wolf-Ulrich Schüler, deputy managing director of RTL News, emphasizes that both duos impress with their journalistic competence and a likeable charisma.

Katja Burkard and Bernd Fuchs

Katja Burkard has been presenting "Punkt 12" since April 1997 and is considered the face of the program. The graduate in German studies and political science began her career at RTL as an editor and reporter, before she first represented the midday magazine in 1996. Her most recent book was the Spiegel bestseller "60 is the new 60!".

Bernd Fuchs has worked for RTL since 1997 and initially became known as a weather expert. After years as a substitute, he has been a permanent member of the "Punkt 12" presenting team since 2025.

Angela Finger-Erben and Daniel Fischer

Angela Finger-Erben has been in front of the camera for RTL since 2006. After stints as a VIP reporter for "Punkt 12" – including at the jungle camp in Australia – she hosted shows such as "I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! The Aftermath" as well as various reality formats on RTL and RTL+.

With her premiere on May 18, 2026, she returns to "Punkt 12" in a regular role. Daniel Fischer brings extensive experience from radio and television. The Frankfurt native began his career in radio in 1998 and hosted the ZDF program "1, 2 oder 3" between 2005 and 2010. Since 2016, he has also been active as a stadium announcer for the German Football Association (DFB).

He has been presenting “Punkt 6/7/8” for RTL since 2022 and will also be working for the new news magazine “Deutschland am Morgen” from May 2026.

“Point 12” remains the central anchor

With the restructuring of the moderation team, RTL underlines the importance of the midday magazine in the daytime program.

“Punkt 12” airs live for three hours every weekday and has been one of the most-watched formats on German midday television for decades.

The new permanent duos are intended to strengthen the format in the long term and offer familiar faces to a broad audience…
