"The Devil Wears Prada" opens as a musical in Hamburg
German premiere in December 2026 at the Stage Theater Neue Flora – ticket pre-sales started today.
Hamburg will become the stage for one of the most dazzling stories in film history in December 2026: "The Devil Wears Prada" celebrates its German premiere as Thinking at the Stage Theater Neue Flora.
Advance ticket sales for the show have therefore started online today at musicals.de.
From the screen to the stage
Around 20 years after the international box office hit starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Emily Blunt, the cult film is being transformed into a stage production. The timing couldn't be better: the highly anticipated sequel opens in German cinemas at the end of April.
The story of young journalist Andy Sachs, who works for the formidable editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly at the prestigious fashion magazine "Runway," tells of career ambitions, self-discovery, and moral boundaries. Andy must decide: How far will she go for success?
Star-studded cast behind the scenes
Musically, world-renowned star Elton John is responsible for the compositions, while Shaina Taub and Mark Sonnenblick are writing the lyrics. The book is by Lauren Weisberger, author of the novel on which the film is based, together with Kate Wetherhead.
The film is directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, three-time Tony Award winner and known for productions such as "Kinky Boots", "Legally Blonde" and "Hairspray".

The musical promises glamorous costumes, witty dialogue, and an emotional show experience exploring themes of fashion, power, and morality. The production is based on the novel by Lauren Weisberger and the film by Twentieth Century Studios.
Disney's musical "Tarzan" is currently playing at the Stage Theater Neue Flora and is scheduled to run until the end of October 2026.
