In it, 18 unknown contestants not only compete for fame – they are actually trained for it. New episodes are released weekly for free on the platform.
“The Reality Star Academy” will be available to stream for free on Joyn from April 16, 2025, with two new episodes released every week.
The concept: Reality TV as a school subject
The basic idea is as simple as it is entertaining: What makes a true reality star? How do you make TV history, prevail tactically in games, forge alliances – and become the unforgettable main character of an entire season?
These are precisely the questions at the heart of the show, which is produced by Madame Zheng on behalf of Joyn.
The 18 participants attend a real school – with subjects taught, exams and prominent teachers from the reality TV industry.
Désirée Nick as director – Gigi Birofio as assistant
Director Désirée Nick and her assistant Gigi Birofio keep a watchful eye on everything that goes on. Together they decide who actually has what it takes to become a reality TV personality.
The lecturers are all familiar faces from the German academic world. Reality World – each with its own area of expertise.
These stars teach at the Reality Star Academy
Kadar Loth, known as "The Reality Historian," takes on the subject of history and promises to show how to permanently burn oneself into the collective TV memory.
Flocke teaches biology as "The Body Whisperer" – with a focus on body language, reactions and interpersonal dynamics.
Gigi Birofio is a guest lecturer in German and explains why choosing the right words – whether in an argument or when flirting – can decide between promotion or expulsion.
Sam Dylan takes over the midterm review in the role of the "drama aesthete" and assesses how creatively and convincingly the candidates stage their own reality masterpiece.
As the “Challenge Commander” in the subject of sports, Cecilia Asoro ensures that it becomes clear who really delivers under pressure – physical strength alone does not count.
