Bettertrust expands its management team with the addition of Lukas Knochenel

Berlin-based communications agency Bettertrust is bringing Lukas Knochel (pictured above) onto its management board, effective April 1, 2026. The 31-year-old will now complete the leadership trio together with Dr. Christopher Runge and Allan Grap.

Bettertrust has achieved something that has become rare in the communications industry: an employee who has grown within the agency from the very beginning takes on responsibility at the top.

Internal promotion after five years

Lukas Knochel joined the Berlin agency as a PR consultant in the middle of the Corona pandemic – and has been working his way up the hierarchies ever since.

Team Lead PR, Unit Director PR, Director Public Relations, authorized signatory since the beginning of 2025 – and now Managing Director.

In his role as Director of Public Relations, which he has held since 2023, Knochel has expanded the PR team from seven to over 20 employees.

This development is reflected in the agency's overall figures: Bettertrust now employs more than 40 people and generates around seven million euros in annual revenue.

Growth as a shared project

Founder and Co-CEO Dr. Christopher Runge emphasizes the organic nature of this promotion: Knochel not only earned his leadership role, but also proved that he can develop teams sustainably.

For Runge, the appointment is "logical, commensurate with performance, and consistent." He links it to specific expectations: further development of the PR services and continued growth throughout the DACH region.

Co-CEO Allan Grap sees the appointment as a logical step in the agency's scaling. The three managing directors intend to maintain close communication between the various departments of Bettertrust and position the company for future success.

DACH, growth, personal responsibility

Knochel himself sets clear goals: Bettertrust should become one of the highest-grossing PR agencies in Germany.

In addition to organic growth, he is focusing on marketing the product portfolio to specific target groups.

His work focuses on strategic PR, reputation management, and CEO positioning. These are the disciplines in which he has advised various companies, from startups and medium-sized businesses to market leaders, over the past few years.

The site expansions in Hamburg, Munich, Vienna and Zurich are to be further advanced under his shared responsibility.
