Reportage: Energy crisis – fear for income
Energy is becoming more and more expensive. The high energy prices pose major challenges for many companies, and the first companies are already bankrupt.
The German Economic Institute estimates that high gas prices could cause 337.000 people to lose their jobs by the end of next year.

The MDR series “exactly” has recently accompanied people who have already lost their jobs due to the energy price crisis.
The whole thing can be seen from October 17th, 10.00:17.00 a.m., in the ARD Mediathek and from XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. on the YouTube channel “MDR Investigativ”.
There is fear among small and medium-sized businesses because current energy prices are threatening the livelihoods of many tradesmen and industrial workers throughout Central Germany.
For the new episode of the MDR web series “exactly”: “Termination in the crisis – when companies close down because of expensive gas”, reporter Leon Grüninger accompanies people who have lost their jobs due to the energy price crisis and will soon lose them.
That's how he met Petra Tittel in Triptis, Thuringia. The trained office clerk works in sales at a porcelain factory.
She only has a few weeks left there because she has been given notice. Gas is too expensive for the factory's furnaces. Now the company has to close.
In Magdeburg, “exactly” met Günter Seiffert, who worked in a brickworks. He is now working at home on short-time work.
His employer is also at a loss. He is afraid of his new life. Will he be able to pay the many bills, which have increased significantly?
Fear and anger also reign in Triptis, Thuringia. Former employees of the porcelain factory demonstrate here every Monday.
Is the energy crisis now increasingly becoming a job killer? The new edition of "exactly" examines this question.
