FCA plant Rivalta becomes global logistics center for Mopar

– Historic production facility near Turin will be completely rebuilt to supply FCA brand spare parts and accessories to markets in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and other countries.
– Mopar® shipped over 47.000 tonnes of goods to over 7.000 recipients in the EMEA region over the past twelve months.

The rapidly growing global business of Mopar®, the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) brand for original spare parts and accessories, among other things, is securing the future of the historic Fiat plant in Rivalta. The factory near Turin, which opened in 1967 and where the Fiat models 124 Spider, Dino, Ritmo and Bravo were manufactured, is being completely rebuilt and converted into an innovative, energy-efficient and sustainable distribution and logistics center. In the future, more than 5.000 dealers and workshops will be supplied from the new complex. The new structure ensures faster delivery and improved service for Mopar® customers.

Mopar® continues to invest heavily to meet the continuing strong increase in global demand. In the last twelve months, Mopar® has achieved a turnover of more than 47.000 tons of goods in the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, Africa) alone, which were delivered to around 7.000 dealers and workshops. In Europe, Mopar® offers more than 260.000 original spare parts and accessories for FCA brand vehicles. Mopar® delivers to over 160 countries worldwide, and its logistics network includes more than 50 distribution centers in over 20 countries.

The Rivalta project

The opening of the new logistics centre in Rivalta will improve Mopar®'s global operations. The factory has around 340.000 square metres of space, of which around 40.000 square metres are covered. Around 13.000 square metres of office space are available for administration. In addition, there will be conference rooms, a cafeteria, a restaurant, an event hall, parking spaces and green areas open to employees. The warehouse and shipping departments will be located close to the access roads to optimise work and time. By 2020, the new logistics centre will be expanded to include Mopar®'s regional headquarters.

Optimal working conditions are achieved through acoustic measures, air conditioning, ergonomic design of the furnishings and a sophisticated interplay of natural and artificial light. Great importance was placed on energy efficiency and environmental protection. This is ensured by solar systems for generating electricity, a system for using rainwater and the use of ecological materials whose resource requirements were taken into account from production to disposal. The new warehouse will also implement modern methods for workplace ergonomics.

Even in the concept phase, the new logistics center was designed to achieve “World Class Logistics” certification. One of the goals is to avoid waste in the logistics process. In 2017, Mopar® was the only logistics center in the region to achieve a silver rating.

The Mopar® brand

Mopar® is the global brand of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) for services, original spare parts, accessories and customer service. Mopar® - historically an acronym of the words MOtor and PARts - was originally created in 1937 as a brand for antifreeze. Over the past 80 years, Mopar® has also become synonymous with vehicle care and accessories. Mopar® develops components in collaboration with the FCA departments responsible for the specifications of series vehicles. In this way, Mopar® offers tailor-made and optimal quality for the vehicles of the FCA brands.
