Joyn launches first “Branded On Demand Channel”

The streaming platform Joyn is further expanding its advertising offering and is launching the first “Branded On Demand Channel” in collaboration with Otto.

From now on, users can discover curated branded entertainment content from Otto around the clock – both on the SmartTV, on the laptop as well as mobile in the Joyn app.


New advertising opportunities for brands

With this step, Joyn is adding a new facet to its growing offering. Katharina Frömsdorf, CEO of Joyn, explains: "The Branded On Demand Channels are naturally integrated into our program and do not disrupt the user experience."

Michael Stix, Chief Sales Officer and Managing Director of Seven.One Media, also emphasizes the importance of the new format: “With Otto as a partner, we have created an innovative first-mover case. Advertisers can strategically place their branded content in a high-reach environment and emotionally connect with their target groups.”

Shopping entertainment with QR codes

The “Otto Branded On Demand Channel” offers users over seven hours of exclusive shopping entertainment. In entertaining video sequences, the mail-order company, together with brands such as Apple, Lego, Liebherr, and Melitta, presents selected products.

A special feature: All articles shown are provided with QR codes that lead directly to the Otto platform. The content is bundled in a video-on-demand playlist and can be accessed flexibly at any time.

Jörg Heinemann, Innovation Evangelist at Otto, sees a great opportunity in the new format: "Social commerce is a central part of our strategy. With Joyn, we have found the ideal partner to make our shopping streams accessible to a wider audience."

Successful development of Joyn

Joyn recorded its highest reach ever in January with 7,6 million users. Watch time also increased by 67 percent compared to the same month last year.

With the new “Branded On Demand Channel”, Joyn is continuing its strategy of offering innovative advertising formats and expanding the user experience.
