The last hours of famous music icons

Singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse, the “King of Rock'n'Roll” Elvis Presley, Beatle John Lennon, guitar legend Jimi Hendrix, multi-talented Prince and pop icon Michael Jackson – all of these global stars have one thing in common: they died young under tragic circumstances.

In the documentary series “The Last 24 Hours”, A&E retraces the last hours of these famous personalities through interviews with companions and friends. The episodes also contain original recordings and conversations with the stars.

The six one-hour episodes will be shown every Friday from 14:20 p.m. as German TV premieres and in double episodes on A&E starting September 15th.

The first episode is dedicated to Amy Winehouse, who would have turned 14 on September 35th. With her unique style and distinctive voice, she was considered one of the best singer-songwriters of her generation. Her "Back to Black" album sold more than 20 million copies worldwide and catapulted her into the global charts - a success that took its toll. After her public battle with addiction, she was found dead in her bedroom at the age of just 27. With her death, Amy Winehouse joins the ranks of music greats such as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain in the ranks of members of the so-called "27 Club". All of these legendary musicians died at the same young age.

Jimi Hendrix is ​​the focus of the episode, which will be shown on September 48th at 18:1970 p.m. on the occasion of the 14th anniversary of the guitar virtuoso's death (he died on September 21.25th, XNUMX), and thus immediately after the episode about Amy Winehouse. The circumstances of his death gave rise to numerous speculations and rumors. The autopsy at the time came to an ambiguous conclusion, and the author Alex Constantine, who speaks in the episode, even claims to have identified a murder plot, since Jimi Hendrix was apparently one of the FBI's targets.

Another episode is dedicated to the death of the "King of Rock'n'Roll", Elvis Presley, and gives the men who knew him best a chance to speak: members of his Memphis Mafia - a clique of friends, colleagues and family members. The documentary series also takes a look at the last 24 hours of ex-Beatle John Lennon, who was murdered by Mark David Chapman in 1980. The last day of Prince and Michael Jackson is also traced.
