In Berlin, the shooting for the new Sky Original series “Public Affairs”.

The eight-part dramedy looks behind the scenes of the interwoven power apparatus of Berlin politics and lobbying, in which lobbyist Max Lentor (Helgi Schmid) has to prove himself against his Brussels rival Valerie Hazard (Nilam Farooq).

In front of the camera, alongside Helgi Schmid and Nilam Farooq, are Valerie Stoll, Ulrike Kriener, Jan Gregor Kremp, Johannes Allmayer, Brix Schaumburg, Barbara Philipp, Bärbel Schwarz and Thorsten Merten.

The film is directed by Wolfgang Groos and Matthias Koßmehl based on a screenplay by Christian Jeltsch together with Anneke Janssen and Sebastian Bleyl.

That's what it's about

Max is the up-and-coming lobbyist, the undisputed number one in the capital. Until Valerie comes from Brussels to Berlin to advance her career at the rival company and gets in Max's way.

She is a serious opponent. Although sparks fly between the two of them, Max and Valerie prefer to play against each other rather than on the same side.

They each manage to achieve their goal with charm, intelligence and strategy. "Public Affairs" looks behind the scenes of power and the powerful in political Berlin - sometimes surprising and revealing, sometimes bitter and funny.

The series takes you into the world of capital politics and behind the facades of the success-driven opponents Max and Valerie.

In addition to economic interests and the associated power games, they have private secrets that they try to keep – but will they succeed?

“Public Affairs” is an Isarstraßen Film production commissioned by Sky Studios and will be shown on Sky and Wow in 2024.

“Public Affairs” is funded by the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg as well as the Central German Media Fund, the German Motion Picture Fund and the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern.
