Old music meets new musical – at the Landshut Court Music Days

A fixed date for all music lovers in Lower Bavaria and far beyond is the Landshut Court Music Days from June 2 to 9, 2024.

The International Festival of Early Music offers its audience the opportunity to experience music from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque periods in spaces dating from the time of its creation.

“The city of Landshut, with its well-preserved architecture, is predestined for such an event, which brings together historical performance practice, music on original instruments and the historical venues,” says the festival’s new musical director, Bernhard Hirtreiter.

“We are not only looking forward to international ensembles and soloists of high artistic quality, but also to making classical music accessible to a wider audience.”

The 21st edition of the Court Music Days is all about the theme “Heroes, Ghosts, Womanizers”.

Always Following the Harlequin

In 15 events with regional, national and international artists, the festival musically describes the heroic and heroic, superstition and passion.

The Harlequin is a new symbol. The Court Music Days will be opened in the Town Hall's grand hall. For the first time, music lovers who are not members or supporters of the Landshut Court Music Days Association can also attend this festive event.

In addition, the Echo award winners of the ensemble Spark - the classical band with "Bach - Berio - Beatles" will bring together three icons of Western music on June 8th. On the same day, Landshut will also welcome the baroque orchestra Elbipolis, which has been awarded the Grimme Prize.

court musical for families

This year, the court musical “Raspel”, composed especially for this festival, will celebrate its premiere on June 3rd, both as a piece and as part of the Court Music Days program.

The focus is on Princess Raspel, who does not want to accept her role as a courtly lady, and a bad-tempered dragon who brings the flourishing salt trade in Landshut to a standstill. In a singing competition, a song must be found that will make the dragon fly away.

But which piece develops this power? After the premiere, there will be two more performances, all in the Landshut Ice Hall 2. In this location, you can experience a unique cultural experience.
