Austria inspires with creative campaigns for the 2025 Ski World Championships

The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2025 in Saalbach Hinterglemm (4 to 16 February 2025) were not only a major sporting event, but also a perfect opportunity to present Austria as a winter sports country.

The Austrian National Tourist Office (ÖW) worked with regional partners on creative campaigns to generate enthusiasm for winter sports throughout the entire season.

European tour with pop-up gondola and World Cup locomotive

Even before the World Cup, Doppelmayr's pop-up gondola brought alpine flair to six European cities. Back in Saalbach Hinterglemm, it became a popular photo spot during the World Cup.

At the same time, the branded “World Cup locomotive” attracted attention on the western route and will in future also promote travel to Austria in Germany.

Stunt: Kite Olympian on the race track

A special highlight was provided by Valentin Bontus, kite Olympian, who dared to undertake a courageous action with tips from ski world champion Michaela Kirchgasser.

Instead of skiing down, he used his kite to "drive up" the World Cup race track. "Whether you're a professional or amateur athlete - everyone can find the perfect winter experience in Austria," emphasizes ÖW Managing Director Astrid Steharnig-Staudinger.

Austria as host at top level

With the “Home of Snow” events, the tourism organizations of SalzburgerLand, Tyrol, Carinthia, Lower Austria, Upper Austria and Styria demonstrated Austria’s hospitality.

"We were able to present ourselves as world class, not just in terms of sport, but also as a region," says Wolfgang Breitfuß, tourism director of Saalbach Hinterglemm. Tyrol's tourism director Karin Seiler also sees the World Cup as a lasting success.

Austria inspires all year round

In addition to the successes and unforgettable moments, one clear message remains: Austria is not only a winter sports country, but also inspires with unique experiences 365 days a year.

“Our country offers unforgettable adventures all year round,” summarizes Steharnig-Staudinger.
