The #Tatort has its own app

The successful Tatort series on Das Erste now has its own app. Hobby detectives and fans of crime series can find all the information they need at tatort.de/app. This means that current “Tatort” episodes as well as news and background information can be accessed on mobile devices. Interactive elements also challenge your sense of smell.

The app is free and available in the Apple Store for iPhone and iPad; an Android version will follow today, Sunday, in the Google Play Store.

For example, all videos, all cases, all detectives and the hashtag #Tatort can be accessed. Actions within the app are rewarded with badges, which in turn reflect the individual investigator's performance in the form of a rank.

The aim is to rise from being a viewer to being a police chief. The app has a second screen option for the TV broadcasts. There you can find out, for example, "Who is the perpetrator?" or "What is the motive?"

Volker Herres, Program Director of ARD (First German Television), says: "On Sundays, the nation consists of several million detectives who solve the case simultaneously from their sofas. I am delighted that our app users will be supporting the Münster duo Boerne/Thiel and Liefers/Prahl for the premiere on Sunday."
