The 1 Formula 2019 season is slowly but surely coming to an end. After the Brazilian Grand Prix, the racing elite will meet only once more for the final race in Abu Dhabi.
As far as the overall standings are concerned, there should not be much excitement here. Lewis Hamilton had already secured the world championship title early at the beginning of November, three races before the end of the season.

Mercedes dominance right from the start
In the first five races of the season, the Silver Arrows always fought it out for victory among themselves. While Hamilton's teammate Valtteri Bottas won the opening race in Melbourne ahead of the Briton, the latter took the next two Grand Prix victories.
It was only in Monaco that Sebastian Vettel managed to break through the Mercedes phalanx with a strong second place. But even the Ferrari driver could not do anything to stop Hamilton's dominance. Hamilton triumphed in Spain and Monaco as well as in Canada and France and was well on his way to his sixth world championship.
The young wild ones are coming
It was not until June 30th, in the ninth race of the season, that Formula 1 saw a driver other than a Mercedes driver, Max Verstappen in the Red Bull Honda, at the top of the podium. The Dutchman was successful again in Hockenheim around four weeks later. But his competitor Charles Leclerc was also getting better and better at driving a Ferrari.
Halfway through the season, an exciting duel developed between the two “young guns” Verstappen and Leclerc. The Ferrari driver came out on top with two victories in Belgium and Italy as well as a few fastest laps.
Undeterred, Hamilton continued to deliver his performance - and put everything on the right track with his victories in Sochi and Mexico. Second place in the USA was enough for his next big success.
Hamilton on the hunt for records
With his sixth title, Lewis Hamilton has now overtaken the legendary Juan Manuel Fangio, who was world champion five times. Now only one name stands ahead of him: Michael Schumacher. The man from Kerpen was world champion seven times. An achievement that remains unmatched to this day.
After Hamilton's second place at the US Grand Prix was enough to become world champion for the sixth time, he was at a loss for words. When asked about his historic triumph, he said: "It's an honour to be on the same level as all the legends."
It seems only a matter of time before he wins the next world championship title. So it is not surprising that Hamilton is the absolute favorite in Formula 1,57 betting next season with odds of 21.11 (as of November 1st).
Mercedes shapes the new turbo era
With his fifth title in six years, Hamilton is shaping an entire era, similar to Michael Schumacher in the early 2000s. Since the new turbo engine was introduced in Formula 2014 in 1, Mercedes has dominated the racing series.

Since then, all titles have gone to the Silver Arrows, with only Nico Rosberg breaking Hamilton's winning streak in 2016. No wonder he is the big favorite again next year - and Schumacher's record could actually be broken as early as 2020.
