Everyone knows it, too many people have too little of it and it determines their lives: money. In the new episode "Kroymann and the lovely money", satirist and singer Maren Kroymann takes on the topic that many people in Germany only touch with kid gloves.

The things that most people would rather not talk about are really put through the meat grinder on “Kroymann”. Any reservations? None.
Poverty, the middle class, unequal pay between men and women, investments and the gender pay gap – that’s what it’s all about from January 10, 2023 in the ARD Mediathek and on Thursday, January 12, 2023, 23:35 p.m. on Das Erste.
This time Maren Kroymann gets support in finding revealing punchlines from: Jasmin Shakeri, Wolke Hegenbarth, Godehard Giese, Sara Fazilat, Minh-Khai Phan-Thi, Andreas Hoppe, Wolfgang Michael, Marek Harloff, Katharina Hirschberg, Laura Osswald and Diana Amft.
Maren Kroymann and Annette Frier lead the show as a beloved, perfectly performing duo on a wonderfully absurd flea market visit.
The show also looks at German quirks with the potential for conflict: If no one wants to feel unfairly treated, the question “Should we pay together or separately?” in a restaurant quickly becomes a test of long-term friendships.
And at the deposit bottle machine, a whole new world suddenly opens up when a genie escapes from one of the bottles. Of course, the lucky bottle owners now have one wish granted. It's not quite that simple here either.
A pot of gold? "No, those days are over. We have our own requirements now. Inflation and all that," the ghost says dismissively. How about paying the gas bill for the next few years?
But only if they are prepared to sacrifice something special. Well, in times of tight budgets and rising energy prices, genie in a bottle is no longer what it used to be...
One of the show's central messages - "Bitches need money" - is summed up brilliantly by Maren Kroymann and Berlin rapper Babyjoy. "The others have balls, I have the qualifications. I get the overtime, the others get more pay," raps 23-year-old Babyjoy.
“Kroymann” is one of the most successful ARD comedy formats and has already won several awards in recent years: Most recently, the singer and satirist was presented with the honorary award of the German Comedy Prize after a much-noticed acceptance speech.
In 2020 and 2019, “Kroymann” won the German Television Award, the Bavarian Television Award in 2019, the Grimme Prize in 2019 and 2018, the Studio Hamburg Newcomer Award in 2018, the German Television Academy Award in 2018, and the Juliane Bartel Media Prize in 2017.
In addition, Maren Kroymann was honored with the Rose D'Or of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in 2019 for her life's work.
