Daily newspapers: Bertelsmann Investments sells DDV shares to Madsack
The international media, services and education company Bertelsmann announces the planned sale of the DDV Media Group to the Madsack Media Group.
Since the beginning of 2022, DDV, which publishes the “Sächsische Zeitung” among others, has been part of the Bertelsmann Investments division.
Carsten Coesfeld, Member of the Executive Board for Investments and Financial Solutions at Bertelsmann and CEO of the Bertelsmann Investments division, says: “The Madsack Media Group is an ideal publishing home for the DDV Media Group.”
The DDV Media Group is a 60 percent subsidiary of Bertelsmann Investments and 40 percent of Deutsche Druck- und Verlagsgesellschaft, whose share the Madsack Media Group is also acquiring.
The acquisition is subject to antitrust approval.
The Bertelsmann Group includes the entertainment company RTL Group, the book publishing group Penguin Random House, the music company BMG, the service provider Arvato Group, Bertelsmann Marketing Services, the Bertelsmann Education Group and the international fund network Bertelsmann Investments.
