New quiz show with Jörg Pilawa: "Who is Germany's super brain?"
In the summer of 2026, Sat.1 will launch a new quiz show – with an unusual concept and a familiar face: Jörg Pilawa will host “Who is Germany’s Superbrain?”
It's not factual knowledge that counts, but the full performance of the brain: Sat.1 is relying on a fresh quiz format in the summer of 2026 that focuses on the cognitive abilities of the participants.
50 candidates compete against each other – the ultimate superbrain of Germany is being sought.
Game principle – six circles, one goal
The playing field for "Who is Germany's Superbrain?" is literally circular. The 50 participants start in the outermost of six concentrically arranged circles.
Round after round, they have to answer questions – whoever performs worst is eliminated and doesn't get any closer to the center. The further inwards they go, the smaller the group, the greater the pressure.
In the end, exactly two candidates face off in the innermost circle. Whoever wins the final will be crowned Germany's superbrain – and can take home up to 50.000 euros.
These disciplines decide
Unlike classic quiz shows, the goal here is not to have memorized as many facts as possible.
Six cognitive abilities are required, which together represent the entire performance spectrum of the human brain:
These include logic, memory, spatial reasoning, visual perception, arithmetic, and language. Only those who excel in all six areas have a realistic chance of winning.
French original as a template
With Jörg Pilawa, Sat.1 has one of the most experienced Quizz-Germany's leading moderator for the format. Pilawa has been known to audiences for decades and is considered a guarantee for entertaining yet sophisticated quiz television.
“Who is Germany’s Superbrain?” is based on the French format “Le Dernier Cercle”, developed by Satisfaction, The Television Agency, and distributed by Warner Bros. International TV Ltd.
The German adaptation is being produced by Tresor TV. The new quiz show will air on Sat.1 in the summer of 2026 and will also be available to stream on Joyn.
