On the bookshelf: “Curves Thailand”

The dozen is complete: Delius-Klasing-Verlag has published the twelfth volume of the magazine series "Curves". And this time there is a surprise, because Stefan Bogner takes the reader and viewer to Asia for the first time, more precisely to Thailand.

There, the author and photographer unexpectedly found an amazing paradise of curves. Bogner assures us that he has never driven on more bends in the Alps or Pyrenees, the Scottish Highlands or the beautiful US Pacific coast than here.

He speaks of "almost insane curves", experiences at one point "a spectacle that gives you goosebumps" and states at another: "Dear friend from Thailand, you don't have to go to the Nürburgring. It's right here. Not the original version, which is around 20 kilometers long, but a greedy 500-kilometer-plus version."

In Thailand, Curves is committed to "soulful driving" - the enjoyable journey to discover the country and its people. It goes into the jungle, up mountains and down to the beaches. The concept of a mixture of practical travel guide and lyrical report of experiences has remained.

The maxim still applies that the road sections shown from the driver's perspective or from the air are not only empty of people but also of vehicles.

This is the only way the asphalt strips can achieve their special effect in the photos. Even if you don't have exotic destinations on your personal compass, these curves might help you discover a country that you would like to explore yourself - whether by car, motorcycle or bicycle.

Or he simply imagines it based on the extremely realistic images, at the sight of which one does not have to make much effort to literally smell the humid rainforest or hear the sound of the sea.

“Curves No. 13” is then completely down to earth again. It goes back to home territory. To southern Germany.

“Curves Thailand” by Stefan Bogner has 290 pages with 309 photos and illustrations. The paperback book (German and English) costs 15 euros as usual and falls into the publisher’s magazine category.
