“9 Days Awake”: ProSieben shows the bestseller film adaptation

“A film like a rush.” “A blockbuster with a full cast.” “A bestseller.” “The sequel to 'The Children from Bahnhof Zoo'.” “A drug film.”

ProSieben will broadcast the German blockbuster "9 Days Awake" on March 15, 2020, during prime time. Following the film adaptation of Eric Stehfest's bestseller, ProSieben will air the documentary "Dropout – The Documentary with Eric Stehfest".

ProSieben boss Daniel Rosemann: "The film adaptation makes the messages from Eric Stehfest's bestseller even more intense using the means of modern film. '9 Days Awake' is a film like a rush. Relentless, direct, chilling and fascinating. With the documentary about the film, we tell the story on a Sunday evening how crystal meth changes a person."

In the film, Jannik Schümann as Eric Stehfest becomes a meth junkie. He is addicted to the drug that makes him feel invincible - "like Jesus and the Terminator at the same time." Heike Makatsch supports him as his mother Liane, against the wishes of his stepfather Tilo (Benno Fürmann).

“9 Days Awake” will be broadcast on Sunday, March 15, 2020, at 20:15 p.m. on ProSieben and Joyn. The film can also be seen as a UHD event parallel to the broadcast on UHD1 by HD+.

And Martin Brambach mentors him at drama school. "9 Days Awake" is based on the bestselling novel of the same name (2017) by actor and author Eric Stehfest, who is also one of the screenwriters.

He says: "It used to be easy to spot junkies. Today, you can no longer be sure who has a real problem and who doesn't. The drugs of our time are designed to help us function in a performance-oriented society. You can only see through a meth user when he has given up."
