The films are available in the ZDF media library at terra-x.zdf.de The first episode, "Land", will also be published on the YouTube channel "Terra X Nature & History" on Sunday, January 5, 2020.
The first episode, "Land," is about the magic of the night. In fairy tales, evil often lurks in lonely, dark forests. In reality, however, things start to get lively there at dusk.
Nocturnal hunters such as wild cats, wild boars and forest owls appreciate the protection of darkness and make night their day. And some wonders of nature such as fireflies, the northern lights and the so-called marine luminescence can only be admired at night.
The second episode, "City," shows cities that never sleep and have adapted their rhythm to the night. In the dark, Germany's metropolises shine particularly impressively.
This sea of lights also impacts nature. Some animals benefit from the constant illumination – for others, the consequences are fatal.
