“The tastiest idea in Germany” – El Origen wins TV show

On August 22, 2022, the Vox-Format "Germany's tastiest idea" is moving into the next round. 100 supermarket customers meet ten food start-ups to decide which food innovation convinces them the most.

The very next day – i.e. from today – the winning product will be available on the shelves of Rewe stores nationwide.

This year's winner is El Origen with its Quinoa Bites. The Hamburg food start-up was previously known for its plantain and cassava chips from Ecuador.

Now vegan pioneer and founder Gordon Prox (pictured above) is expanding his range to include sweet varieties for the first time.

As with the already known products, El Origen sources its raw materials exclusively from small farmers' cooperatives in Ecuador in order to promote organic farming there and protect the Amazon region in the long term.

The quinoa bites are made from fine-grained quinoa, covered in dark chocolate and with a hint of maca.

Like all El Origen products, they are vegan, organic-certified, palm oil-free and gluten-free.

It was precisely this combination of natural ingredients and sustainability that enabled the start-up to prevail over its competitors – and take the win.

The chocolate products are now available in all Rewe stores in Germany…
